Investigation of internet addiction levels of high school students according to various variables: Bal?kesir province sample

The aim of this study is to determine the internet addiction levels of high school students; The aim of this study is to examine the variables of gender, grade level, primary internet usage purpose and daily internet usage time. The sample of the research in the screening model consists of 2853 students randomly selected from 32 high schools in the central district of Bal?kesir. The data of the study were collected with the "Internet Addiction Scale". After the research, the Cronbach's Alpha (α) internal consistency coefficient of the scale was calculated as .96. In the analysis of the data, while investigating the differences with descriptive statistics, t-test for gender, one-way analysis of variance for class level, primary internet usage purpose and daily internet usage duration were performed. According to the findings obtained; 17% of high school students are low, It has been found that 67% of them are moderately addicted and 16% have a high level of internet addiction. In addition, internet addiction levels of high school students; It varies according to gender, class level, priority internet usage purpose and daily internet usage time.
