School is a human body: a metaphor for vocational high school students' perceptions of school

The aim of the study is to determine the perceptions of vocational high school students towards school through metaphor. For this purpose, the perceptions of students about school administrators, profession and culture lessons teacher, students and auxiliary staff were tried to be determined by using the human body metaphor. The study group of the research consists of 150 students studying in vocational high schools in Kartepe district of Kocaeli province. The data required for the research was obtained in two stages. First, the participants were asked to draw a human body on A4 paper and place the school's items on this size; Then, the participants were interviewed and the reasons for placing these elements in the painting were questioned. The data obtained were analyzed with qualitative methods; The findings are presented with percentage and frequency values. According to the results of the study, it was observed that most of the students placed school administrators at the head because they were authoritarian and bureaucratic. While more than half of the students put the vocational course teacher stating that they taught them a profession; He stated that culture lessons teachers have cognitive contributions to them. While students mostly place themselves on the torso, the cleaners stand up thinking that they are not valued; security guards are also placed at the head While students mostly place themselves on the torso, the cleaners stand up thinking that they are not valued; security guards are also placed at the head While students mostly place themselves on the torso, the cleaners stand up thinking that they are not valued; security guards are also placed at the head
