The relation of organizational socialization to organizational identification and organizational citizenship: a research on primary school administrators

In this study; In addition to the relationships between organizational socialization and organizational identification and organizational citizenship, the predictive level of organizational identification and organizational citizenship variables on organizational socialization was investigated. The research is designed in the "mixed research" type. Therefore, quantitative and qualitative research techniques were used together in the research. In the quantitative dimension of the study, relevant scales were applied to determine the levels of organizational socialization, organizational identification and organizational citizenship behavior of primary school principals. In the qualitative dimension of the study, qualitative interview technique was applied to determine the organizational socialization strategies and tactics of primary school administrators. The target universe of the research, It consists of 580 primary school principals working in nine central districts of Ankara. In the research, the whole universe was reached and the "complete count" technique was used. The Organizational Socialization Scale (Taormina, 2004) and the Organizational Identification Scale (Cheney, 1982; Demirel, Çak?nberk & Derin, 2011) were adapted to Turkish after obtaining the necessary permissions to collect the research data. Organizational Citizenship Scale was developed by the researchers. In the analysis of the data collected with the scales mentioned in the quantitative dimension of the study, frequency, percentage, arithmetic mean and standard deviation descriptive statistics techniques were calculated to determine the levels of organizational socialization, organizational identification and organizational citizenship of primary school principals. Multiple linear regression technique was applied to determine the level of relationship of organizational socialization with organizational identification and organizational citizenship and the predictive level of these two variables (organizational identification and organizational citizenship) on organizational socialization. Significance tests were made at p düzeyinde.05 level. In the qualitative aspect of the study, interview data were subjected to content analysis. Quantitative screening findings showed that the organizational socialization and organizational identification levels of primary school administrators were below the expected. According to the results of the multiple regression analysis, only the identification dimension of organizational identification lowly predicts the dimension of understanding about the organization of organizational socialization, organizational identification and organizational citizenship dimensions. Qualitative screening findings.
