In this research, it has been tried to understand the granular structure of the substance with experiments and macro display. A single-subject experimental method was used in the study. The sample of the study consists of 48 students studying in the first year of Science Education. Particulate Structure Tests of Matter (MTYT) were used as data collection tools in the study. Tests consist of open-ended questions. During the application process, two experiments were conducted to achieve the purpose of the research. Before the experiments, MTYT was applied and the students' preliminary information about the experiment was obtained. Then, experiments were carried out and MTYT was applied again after the experiments and the students' understanding of the granular structure was determined. In addition, for the first experiment, after the experiment, a macro-scale display was made in order for the students to understand the granular structure and after this demonstration, MTYT was applied again. The findings obtained from the research show that the conceptual misunderstanding of the students in the first case decreased at the end of the application. However, at some points, it was observed that students continued their misunderstandings.
