Writing and typography teaching practices in the workshop (graphic) lesson of the department of painting education

The purpose of this research is to reveal how typography education is carried out in the Faculty of Education Fine Arts Education Department, Painting Department, Department of Art Workshop (Graphic) and / or Selective Art Workshop (Graphic). The research has been designed in scanning model. The prepared questionnaire was applied to 45 lecturers who gave / gave this course in 24 universities in the spring semester of the 2007-2008 academic year. In addition, semi-structured interviews were conducted with 7 lecturers from the study population. As a result of the research, typography education is very important and necessary in raising art educators, to use different subjects and techniques while planning typography teaching, to give theoretical information, to make project studies, to explain the subject with examples, to benefit from various teaching methods and techniques, It has been determined that it is important to carry out various activities to support typography teaching. It has been determined that there are problems in typography teaching due to the lack of resource book and lesson time. Stating that the writing course will form the basis of typography teaching, the instructors made suggestions for enriching the content of the course by field experts, increasing the duration of the course and supporting it with typography lessons.
